Letter
From The Drama Desk
Welcome!
With the wonder of Christmas and the excitement of a New Year just behind
us, we are fast approaching the most dramatic of the Christian holidays:
Easter. From
the Triumphal Entry to the Last Supper, from the prayers in the garden
to the stone rolling away, this is a time that inspired countless plays
and musicals, not to mention an entire theatrical movement called Passion
Plays.
In this issue we hope to capture some of that drama by providing sketches
and readings for the entire Passion Week. Yet, even as I reread these
sketches, I am struck by the drama behind the scripts the dramatic choice
of a loving God and the actions of his only begotten Son. That real-life
drama makes all our efforts to capture it through theater but a pale
reflection; God is great, to God be the glory.
So as you prepare to serve your congregations this season, I encourage
you to take time to
meditate on the depth of the gift God has given us. Before performing
your sketch, spend some serious time in prayer as a team-thanking God,
praising Jesus and humbling yourselves before the Lord. Then, as you
perform, stand back and allow the glory of God to shine through you!
Sincerely,
Sean
