In this series of vignettes, we meet four couples, all having dinner at a nice restaurant. Each couple is unable to pay for the meal, and each, in turn, is surprised to hear from the waiter that an anonymous benefactor wants to take care of the check. Each couple, that is, except Ralph and Virginia, who have come to "rely upon the kindness of strangers. "There are many lessons to
