Christmas on Woodard
In a world where hope often feels just out of reach, "Christmas on Woodward" invites audiences to explore a contemporary take on the Christmas story. In four compelling acts, it weaves together the lives of ordinary people in an underprivileged community, and provides a glimpse of the fear, faith, and love they experience.
The following sketches can be performed individually as stand-alone pieces, or they can be delivered together as a longer form play. However you choose to use them, this is an incredible opportunity for your drama team to shine, and share the love of God at Christmas!
In the first act, we meet Mary, a young woman grappling with her unexpected pregnancy and the judgment it invites from those around her, including Joseph. Her internal dialogue reveals the fears and hopes she feels as she navigates the complexities of her situation. Next, we shift to the bustling chaos of the Sav-Mor Inn, where a weary innkeeper must choose between managing his hectic life and heeding his wife’s call to "make room for one more."
In the third act, a humble shepherd receives a divine message that inspires him to deliver joyous news to his community. It challenges him to step beyond his comfort zone and share the message of hope. Finally, we see three wise men arriving at an inn, not with gifts of gold or myrrh, but with a warm meal for Mary and Joseph, symbolizing the love and kindness that can change lives forever.
As each story unfolds, the power of compassion shines through, revealing that even in the darkest times, the potential for miracles are always within reach. Join us on this heartwarming journey that reminds us of the extraordinary moments that can emerge from the most ordinary circumstances!
