Crack Open the Road Map

Have you ever embarked on a trip, be it across town or across a couple of counties, and thought you knew the way? I don’t know about you, but I get this odd feeling that flares up and tells me to trust my instinct and forget the map, GPS, MapQuest or anything else that resembles a directional pointer. Something like, “Pride cometh before getting lost,” comes to my mind!

Once I flew into Miami and because I am from Florida, felt quite smug with the fact that I could navigate to where I was headed with little to no help. I was supposed to be going to the west coast, however, it was two hours into my drive up I-95 that I realized I was way, way off track. Just the other day, I thought I would go the “back way” in order to beat the traffic on our way to a play. Needless to say, we never even made it to the general vicinity, therefore missing the production all together and having to deal with some very distraught children!

Both times that I wasted my time wandering the highways, I had a map within reach…literally on the seat next to me that the rental car company provided, and now embedded in my phone! But I never took the time to use them! It reminds me of how God offers me a road map in life. And it’s called the Bible. Quite often, though, it sits beside my bed or on the shelf, collecting dust, untouched and unused. It has every answer I need for life, and it’s awaiting me to crack it open and find out what it says. Please don’t spend another day wondering about and wandering through life…go to the word of God and
allow his words to direct you. You will never, ever, end up lost!

Keep moving forward in him!
